As
a young girl growing up in Horsham, art was always my first interest;
it was the thing I loved to do above all else. My desire to be educated
in the field was therefore a natural progression, and having completed
my HND and BA(Hons) in Design, specialising in jewellery and metalwork,
I returned back to my home town. It was here that my desire to create
contemporary design continued to flourish, and from my grandparents'
tiny shed in their back garden, many individual hand crafted pieces
started to emerge. It seems logical then, that Sparkleastar, my new
design business, was born from that same desire.
My
work is influenced by many diverse subjects, from the wonders of nature
to the extraordinary world of science fiction, and I am particularly
interested in wire form, and the creation of pieces with semi-precious
bead detail. Many of my designs are handcrafted in metals such as copper,
sterling silver and plated wire, but when the opportunity arises, I
love working in alternative media, for example plastic and wood. I also
relish the times when I am commissioned to make pieces for clients,
as it is these occasions that really give me the opportunity to work
alongside individuals in order to make their dreams and ideas a reality.
My
current portfolio is strongly dominated by tiara design and hair jewellery,
and my commitment to creating beautiful bespoke pieces has shone through
in this field. Each design has the promise of holding a treasured memory,
that can be cherished for many years to come.
